Youngkin promises 20 new charter schools statewide, but how? Details may emerge during General Assembly session
Virginia Governor-elect Glenn Youngkin centered his campaign around education issues, capitalizing on the frustration of parents whose children’s education has been upended by the pandemic.

Henrico again shatters daily COVID-19 case records, but hospitalizations remain rare
COVID-19 cases have reached another all-time high in Henrico, mirroring similar realities statewide and across much of the nation as the highly contagious (but apparently less-severe) Omicron variant continues to spread.
Henrico witnessed 942 new cases Jan. 2 – easily its highest single-day total ever – and is now averaging its pandemic peak of 620 new daily cases in the past week – more than twice as many as it was just one week ago.
