Help fund our in-depth coverage of education in Henrico County
We’ve been working hard during the past 12 months to produce more consistent, in-depth reporting about education issues that matter to you and to Henrico County – and in December we were thrilled to learn that we were the only Virginia news organization (and one of just 64 nationally) selected as a new host newsroom for a Report for America reporter.
This means that starting in June, we’ll have our first full-time reporter, who will spend at least the next two years covering education in Henrico through the lenses of equity, race, geography and economy, among others.
Now, we’re launching a crowdfunding effort to support our new reporter’s position.
Every TAX-DEDUCTIBLE donation will be matched, dollar for dollar, by Report for America!
You’ve told us – through your actions and words – that comprehensive, fair coverage of education is one of the most important topics to you. We’re already covering Henrico education like no one else, but there’s so much more important work to be done. And soon, we will be able to expand our coverage in a significant way to do that work.
To get the Report for America match, we need to raise at least $15,000. At a time when many news outlets are eliminating jobs, we’re excited to be adding one – but we need your help.
We’re calling on everyone in the community who values this type of work to help fund it. Do you value transparency? Accountability? Freedom of the press?
If you do, your contribution will be matched dollar-for-dollar by Report for America, an exciting new national service program that places journalists into local newsrooms with just one goal: to serve the community. In 2021, RFA will help sponsor more than 300 reporters in more than 200 newsrooms nationally – including ours.
We appreciate your support of independent, impact journalism.
Many thanks,

I sincerely hope that Education on the Far West End of Henrico will be a focus as it pertains to the Black student's and parent's experience.
