The Henrico Citizen turns 21 years old today.
We published our first print edition on this date in 2001, and covering Henrico County has been our sole focus every day since.
Our mission always has been to provide the most comprehensive, fair, accurate and perspective-rich coverage of our county as we can. We hope that no matter how you consume our news, you benefit from the knowledge it helps provide.
A smarter Henrico is a better Henrico – we believe that strongly and hope that we’ve helped make it a reality.
If you agree, will you help us continue to do this important work by chipping in $21 in honor of our 21st anniversary?
We wouldn’t have survived this long without the readership and support of folks like you, and for that we are deeply appreciative. We’re working hard to ensure that we’ll be around to cover Henrico’s next 21 years, too.
– Tom Lappas, publisher
We understand the financial reasons that forced you to stop printing the paper and distributing so widely in the community, but we sure miss it. As more and more huge for-profit conglomerates buy local news media and reduce the editorial staffs to skeletons (especially reports covering local and statewide news), the Henrico Citizen's role in our area has become vital to helping sustain an informed citizenry. THANK YOU!
