Sunshine Week: Your right to know
This week – March 12-18 – is Sunshine Week, a week designed to promote open government and to spotlight the importance of government transparency and the freedom of information.
WHY IT MATTERS
Sunshine Week empowers people to take an active role at all levels of government and helps shine light into the dark recesses of government secrecy. It’s your right to know!
OUR ROLE
As the trusted, nonpartisan news source for Henrico County, the Henrico Citizen works to provide you with that information and the most comprehensive coverage of all things Henrico, including government.
WHAT’S NEXT
We seek to hire a full-time general assignment/government reporter who can provide regular coverage of Henrico government and the community at large to help enhance our mission by shining a light on more of the issues that matter to you and Henrico County.
HOW YOU CAN HELP
We need 360 more members of our Citizen Collective membership program in order to fund this new full-time reporter’s position. Join our current members in showing your support for democracy, local journalism and our Henrico community. Membership is $75 or $150 annually and comes with a variety of benefits. Or chip in whatever amount you can afford to help this important effort.
Yours in community,
Tom Lappas, publisher
