Preservation Virginia spotlights 170 endangered historic places statewide, including 3 in Henrico
National Historic Preservation Month is returning in May, and Preservation Virginia has released a list of 170 historic places throughout Virginia that are at risk of being demolished or neglected. The list includes three places in Henrico County.
The threats to these sites include inequality, climate change, flooding, large-scale industrial development, lack of stewardship, and changes in urban planning to accommodate increased housing needs. Click here to read more
Richmond is getting a new area code. Not everyone is thrilled: ‘I’ll be 804 forever’
As the calendar rolls into 2024, the Richmond region — synonymous with “the 804” — will soon get another area code. Later this year, area code 686 will officially enter the fray.
The list of potential numbers within any given area code is immense but not unlimited, and officials expect new 804 phone numbers will run out in the third quarter of 2024. Click here to read more
