Politics as usual – or something different?

Lately, you’ve probably received emails or calls urging you to donate to the campaigns of various candidates for public office at the local, state and national levels. In truth, the political fundraising season never ends. And it’s effective – candidates whose districts include some or all of Henrico will raise millions upon millions of dollars collectively in the coming months.

But what if instead of giving millions of dollars to politicians every year, community members gave even a fraction of that amount to local news organizations like the Henrico Citizen? The difference it would make is stunning.

For example: If everyone reading this email donated just $5 to the Henrico Citizen right now, we could immediately hire a full-time government reporter.
