Original Ronnie’s BBQ wins Chicago BBQ competition
The Original Ronnie’s BBQ restaurant recently won the top award at the Six in the City Southern BBQ Experience in Chicago, a competition featuring pitmasters and chefs from states known for their barbeque.
The Varina restaurant received the ‘Best Chef’ award at the annual event, which also featured smoked meats from Birmingham, Alabama; Columbia, South Carolina; Louisville, Kentucky; Memphis, Tennessee; and Raleigh, North Carolina. Click here to read more
Gamers, STEM organizations, veterans gather in Henrico for ImmerseCon
Several high school robotics teams and student organizations showcased their machines during the first ImmerseCon event this past weekend at the Henrico Sports and Events Center, as part of two days of activities related to gaming, science, technology, engineering and math.
Apoorva Saurau, captain of Deep Run High School’s Team 1086 “Blue Cheese,” explained that robotics competitions set a goal for the robot and then the team builds and programs the robot in two months. This year, the goal was to pick up a foam ring from the floor and hit a target with it. Click here to read more
