Ring the ‘Bel’
Love Golf Design founder Davis Love, III (a 21-time PGA Tour champion) watched as a youngster rang a bell signifying the rebirth of Belmont golf course in Lakeside May 24. Love’s firm has redesigned the course (which now features a 12-hole course and a 6-hole par three course and an 18-hold putting course) for the First Tee - Greater Richmond, which will operate and manage it for Henrico County, which owns it. Belmont will officially re-open to the public May 29.

Henrico’s Top Teachers – Ricky Mallory, Pinchbeck Elementary School
For young Ricky Mallory, there was never any doubt about the career path he would eventually pursue. His father, Tom Mallory, was a physical education teacher and coach at Tuckahoe Middle School for 40 years.
“He was my hero growing up for a multitude of reasons,” Mallory says of his dad (who was profiled in the Citizen’s 2013 Henrico’s Top Teachers edition). “I knew very early on in life that I wanted to be a teacher and a coach just like him.” (Read more about one of our 2021 Henrico’s Top Teachers honorees here.)
