Henrico schools, parks to get ‘green’ makeover
Several Henrico County schools and parks soon will become greener, thanks to a new partnership between the county, its public school system and local nonprofit organization Capital Trees.
The groups are launching a pilot reforestation program as a way to improve tree canopies and restore green space at four Henrico sites – Deep Run Park, Cheswick Park and two as-yet-undetermined schools in Eastern Henrico – beginning this fall, with the ultimate goal of expanding the efforts to all parks and schools countywide.
GRTC service changes coming May 21
Beginning May 21, GRTC service changes will include realignments of many routes to serve the new Downtown Transfer Station throughout the day for an easier way to transfer between local bus routes. The Transfer Station is expected to open in mid-June.
