Henrico Schools considering staggered start to school year in 2025
Henrico Schools is seeking input from parents, students and staff on the proposed 2025-2026 divisionwide school year calendar, which would stagger the start of the year for different grade levels.
Grades 1-5, 6 and 9, as well as half of four-year-old pre-kindergarten and kindergarten students would start school on Monday, Aug. 18. Grades 7-8, 10-12, and the other half of four-year old pre-K and kindergarten students would start on Tuesday, Aug. 19. Click here to read more
Varina man pleads guilty to murdering wife, daughter
A Varina man pleaded guilty on Wednesday to the first-degree murders of his wife and daughter in July 2022.
Richard Crowder, 60, pleaded guilty in Henrico Circuit Court to the charges against him and also entered an Alford plea to the attempted aggravated murder of Henrico County Police Officer Kenneth Saunders and Henrico County Police Officer William Grimmer (maintaining his innocence but conceding that sufficient evidence existed to incriminate him).
