Help us build local news together
Dear Henrico Citizen reader,
If you’re reading this, it’s because you care about Henrico County – about what happens in this community, about the decisions made by the board of supervisors and the school board, about local businesses and local events.
We do too. For more than 20 years, the Henrico Citizen has been the trusted voice of Henrico County, keeping readers like you informed about what’s happening through fair, perspective-rich coverage that simply isn’t available anywhere else.
This year, we’ve published nearly 2,600 articles – an average of more than 7 every day of the year, including nearly 550 staff-bylined pieces. (Take a look at our 2021 annual report here to see more of our important work from the past year.)
No one covers Henrico County the way we can. But we can’t continue to do the work you’ve come to expect from us without your support, either.
Rare is the business that simply gives away its primary product or service for free, but we’ve been doing that for 20 years.
Now, we are asking for your help. If you’ve appreciated our coverage this year, would you consider chipping in to help us fund the expenses that go into producing quality, original journalism – including paying our staff members and freelance contributors fair wages?
If you value the education coverage we have provided through our Report for America corps member and education reporter Anna Bryson, who joined us in June, you also may make a tax-deductible contribution to support her work directly.
Report for America is matching all donations we receive to support Anna’s work – up to $25,000! We’re less than $2,000 from our goal, but the Dec. 31 deadline is just a day away. Will you help?
Wishing you a happy and safe new year,
Tom Lappas
