Apply to join our advisory board or ambassadors program

Dear Citizen reader,

At the Henrico Citizen, we’re in the community-building business – and we need your ideas, vision and expertise.

We’re seeking applicants for two community outreach programs – our Citizen Advisory Board and our new Citizen Ambassadors program.

Both programs are designed to help ensure that we are as knowledgeable as possible about the issues, opportunities, challenges, successes, questions and needs of ALL Henrico citizens – so that our coverage can truly reflect our expansive and diverse county. When it does, our entire community benefits from that same level of knowledge – and we’re all better equipped to participate in meaningful conversations about where our community is and where it should go next.

We’re seeking people who are passionate about Henrico County, who are active participants in the community and who are connected to county-based organizations and/or strong hyperlocal communities.

Is that you? Are you concerned that issues of importance to you aren’t being covered adequately – or at all – in the local media? Do you have ideas about how to strengthen the community? Do you want to connect with other community-minded leaders?

• The Citizen Advisory Board (formed in 2021) is a 15-member group of volunteers who seek to contribute to, and help strengthen, the Henrico Citizen’s efforts to serve Henrico County. Members (three from each of the county’s five magisterial districts) will meet monthly in 2023 to provide insight, discuss possible coverage topics and supply feedback about previous coverage, planned future coverage and operational goals, thoughts about issues facing Henrico County in general, and other input.

• The Citizen Ambassadors program (a new creation) will meet every other month in 2023, and members generally will serve as liaisons between the Citizen and individual organizations/hyperlocal communities within Henrico to help strengthen our connection with the community at large and ensure a two-way flow of communication.
