Dozens of higher education leaders support Youngkin’s ‘lab school’ plan
Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin gathered the leaders of more than two dozen higher education institutions in Virginia, including the presidents of all five historically Black colleges and universities in the commonwealth, to tout proposed legislation on Thursday that would expand the college partnership “lab school” concept.
One year later, Henrico still waiting for seats on GRTC board
One year after beginning in earnest an effort to land seats on the GRTC board of directors, Henrico officials are still waiting for an agreement.
A plan that would add three county officials to the existing six-member board – giving Henrico equal representation with each of GRTC’s two owners, Richmond and Chesterfield, and a voice on the board for the first time ever – earned informal approval from elected officials in both of those localities last year but has gotten stuck in the Chesterfield County Attorney’s Office, according to Henrico County Manager John Vithoulkas.
