CRLC preserves New Market Heights Battlefield fortifications
A nearly 800-foot segment of original earthen fortifications known as the New Market Line, a military defensive that was constructed between Fort Harrison and New Market Heights in Eastern Henrico County, has been protected by the Capital Region Land Conservancy.
CRLC recently closed on the purchase of more than 49 acres containing the stretch of Civil War earthworks in Varina that was captured by Union soldiers Sept. 29, 1864 during the Battle of New Market Heights.
Debate planned in Democratic primary for 57th District house seat
Our Seat at the Table, a podcast that engages young people in politics, will partner with the local Democratic committees to host a Democratic primary debate in the race for the House of Delegates from District 57. HD-57 is a newly redrawn district covering western Henrico and parts of Goochland, and it is considered a toss-up in the general election.
