Celebrating 20 years with 20 days of giving
Dear Henrico Citizen reader,
This month, the Henrico Citizen turns 20. Our official anniversary is Sept. 20, the date on which we published our first print edition, just nine days after the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks.
COVID-19 forced us to end our print publication last year as the result of significant advertising revenue losses. But we quickly transitioned to a fully digital, daily weekday news organization across a number of platforms because we believed it was critically important that the citizens of Henrico have a trusted news outlet through which to find the most up-to-date, fair, perspective-rich coverage of key topics like COVID, education, government and many others.
More than 65,000 people visit HenricoCitizen.com on an average month – and a lot more than that have done so recently, as a result of this now-internationally-viral story that we broke! We appreciate your readership, whether you’re a regular or someone who just checks out our coverage from time to time.
Now, to celebrate our 20th year, we want to give back to those who support us.
Starting today and continuing for the first 20 days of September, we’re hosting “20 days of giving” as a way to thank everyone who makes a financial contribution to us.
Each day, we’ll offer different giveaways for anyone who gives (in most cases) a minimum of $20 to help support our effort to keep the Citizen a sustainable, independent source of fair local news coverage for the next 20 years. It’s our way or saying thanks for your readership and contributions.
Bookmark this page and check back daily to see which items are available each day!
(Today, any gift of $20 or more qualifies for two free tickets to a Richmond Flying Squirrels game, and a donation of $30 qualifies for two tickets to the Sept. 2 performance of “Elton Live!” at The Tin Pan.)
If you value the work we do and the role we’ve played in keeping our community educated and informed for the past 20 years – or even if you just got a laugh from our viral story – we’d sure appreciate your support.
Thanks so much!
