BLACK FRIDAY SALE: Unlimited free local news
Hi Reader,
There are a ton of great sales today on “things,” but far fewer on information. And truthfully, it’s tough to put a price tag on knowledge.
So, at the Henrico Citizen, we don’t.
That’s why this subject line is true – all of our coverage IS free today – but also unnecessary. We don’t actually need to have a Black Friday sale, because our coverage is always free – every day, to everyone.
We consider access to local news – delivered in a fair and responsible way – a fundamental human right, so we’ve never charged for it. We believe our role is to help provide you with the information you need to be an active citizen of Henrico County.
But that’s work we can’t do for free. We’re a business just like any other, and it costs money to employ capable journalists.
So tonight, I’m writing to ask for your support in helping us continue our mission. Whether you saved a bunch of money buying some great things today or sat this Black Friday out, I hope you’ll consider clicking the button below to support our local journalism.
Do you support the work we’re doing?
Maybe you’ve read the Citizen for months or even years and have found our coverage valuable but haven’t had a chance to give yet. We’d value your contribution today. And when you give, it helps us keep all of our coverage free for everyone – more than 80,000 readers in a typical month.
Here’s what some recent donors had to say about why they gave to the Citizen:
“I believe in excellent local journalism, and the Henrico Citizen embodies that.”
“I am a Chesterfield County citizen with no more local newspaper. Hope Henrico keeps theirs.”
“You are doing the Henrico community a great service. I’ll make another contribution before year end.”
“I moved to RVA about two years ago and discovered the Henrico Citizen a couple of months ago. It’s been a local lifeline for me ever since. You are doing great work, so keep it up!”
If you feel the way some of these readers do, my staff and I would be grateful for your support.
Yours in community,
Tom Lappas, publisher
