Apply to join the Citizen Advisory Board
Dear Citizen reader,
Are you passionate about Henrico County? Are you an active participant in our community? Are you concerned that issues of importance to you aren’t being covered adequately – or at all – in the local media? Do you have ideas about how to strengthen the community – and the Henrico Citiezn?
Then I’d like to invite you to apply to join the Henrico Citizen’s Citizen Advisory Board.
The Citizen Advisory Board (formed in 2021) is a 15-member group of volunteers who seek to contribute to, and help strengthen, the Henrico Citizen’s efforts to serve Henrico County. Members (three from each of the county’s five magisterial districts) will meet 10 times between this March and February 2025 to provide insight; discuss possible coverage topics; supply feedback about previous coverage and planned future coverage, as well as operational goals; provide thoughts about issues facing Henrico County in general; and supply other input.
Interested? We invite your application, so that we can consider you for membership!
Applicants may be long-time Henrico citizens or relative newcomers, business owners or entry-level workers, homeowners or renters, parents, grandparents, volunteers, coaches, teachers – or anyone in between. We aim to select board members who can provide unique and meaningful perspective about their experiences and lives in Henrico County and in turn help better connect us to their individual communities and spheres of influence.
We also seek a board that reflects equity and diversity – with members of various races, education levels, political views and occupations, among other unique characteristics.
Please feel free to share this with anyone else whose input you think we should have as part of this group. We want our board to represent the many faces and facets of Henrico County, and we can't wait to get started.
All the best,
Tom Lappas, publisher
