Another email from this guy?
Dear Citizen reader,
This is it – the last email I will send you all year, I promise!
In all seriousness, though, I appreciate you. You are the reason the Henrico Citizen exists. If no one cared about what was happening in Henrico County, there’d be no need for us. Your readership – and your willingness to put up with my frequent emails asking for financial support these past few weeks – are two things I don’t take for granted.
I hate asking for help or for money. But I’m doing it because I believe strongly in our mission; in the importance of what we do; and in the importance of what we aspire to do for this community. And quite simply, we can’t do these things without financial support.
Local journalism helps tell the story of our place – our successes, our failures, our challenges, our opportunities. Without it, we know much less about these things, and we’re much less able to have meaningful (and fact-based) conversations as a community about what should come next.
If everyone who reads the Henrico Citizen each month gave one dollar, we could hire a new full-time reporter every month of the year! But for starters, I’d like to hire just one more in 2023.
There are several ways you can help our mission today:
• Make a contribution of any amount.
• Join our Citizen Collective membership program (which features benefits!).
• Make a tax-deductible contribution to support our Report for America education reporter’s position.
• Inquire about advertising with us.
Again, thank you for your readership and your support. Here’s to a 2023 filled with good health and goals reached!
Yours in community,
Tom Lappas, owner/publisher
