Amazon building robotics fulfillment center at Richmond Raceway, hiring more than 1,000 employees
For months, speculation that Amazon was building a massive facility on land at the Richmond Raceway complex grew.
Wednesday, that speculation became reality as the company and Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam announced that the company is building a 650,000-square-foot robotics fulfillment center on 119 acres, with plans to hire more than 1,000 employees.
Air quality in Metro Richmond remains among best in nation
For the ninth consecutive year, Metro Richmond ranks among the cleanest U.S. regions for healthy air, according to the American Lung Association.
The organization’s annual “State of the Air” report found that the region (which includes 13 counties and 4 cities) improved to its best performance for ozone smog and remained unchanged from last year’s best-ever results for both the short-term (daily) and the long-term (year-round) measures of fine particle pollution.
